Did quite a bit more tweaking, and bought the ECC RAM...

changed around the motherboard, SSDs, and RAM, I also bought the ECC RAM because prices are not going to drop and likely might go up in price.

Parts were ordered, received and assembled into a computer. One of the two standoffs for the M.2 slot was missing... well.. before putting the computer together first thing I did was take off the plastic shroud and pull out the built-in wireless network module from the miniture PCIe slot... I remember it had a strange rattle to it, but shrugged, set it aside, and went on with the build, because I was not going to use it anyway.

Guess where that missing standoff was? The newegg review lost 2 eggs for that. Had I left the standoff in there unknowingly, it might have shorted something out and exploded things.

I was getting 120k PPD according to one project (forget which one) on just the ryzen 7 1700x processor... while I was doing the burn-in test. Holy smokes that thing is fast.

Just finished encrypting everything and built the ZFS "library" raidz pool... next step is to configure the root operating system a bit more, then move on to setting up LXC. Still have a long ways to go for this.

Time for sleep.

Oh I almost forgot to mention... the computer is called "twilight" and the ZFS pool is called "library"... I've had to rebuild the library several times now, figuring out how ZFS works with the encryption I decided to go with. I'm sure twilight understands and won't murder me in my sleep... maybe.

Alright, server is finally set up with containers, and folding@home is running in one such container full tilt.

122k PPD for project 13801
108k PPD for project 8214
103k PPD for project 13726
107k PPD for project 8207

The whole computer, with all its drives (2 solid state, 3 hard) and processor running full-tilt is pulling 185 watts from the wall.

heh, no, not quite... if I did those projects for a full 24 hours, thats what my PPD number would be... 122k PPD if I ran project 13801 all day. Only threadripper/epyc would be likely to get 400k PPD
