Windows 10 and OpenCL.dll

Every time I start up FAH, I get an OpenCL.dll missing error. I click okay 1-4 times, let it sit for a minute, and it starts folding. This happens every time I complete a WU, too. It won't start folding again until I acknowledge the message. This makes folding extremely inefficient since I do sleep and work. I've double and triple checked, wiped, and reinstalled the driver for my GPU (970) and still no luck. The file is there, FAH just has problems finding it now. Any ideas?

I have such a hate/love/hate relationship with Windows 10. Looking back, I shouldn't have upgraded, but it's too late now.

Also, anything showing in your logs? Or is this just a standard error box?

Regarding the drivers, did you do a clean installation? Completely removed the drivers first, and then installed the drivers again? And did you use the full installer, or just the standalone?

Ran Driver Cleaner, tried installing through Windows, no luck. Ran again and tried through Nvidia, still the same issue. It's not that the file doesn't exist or is in the wrong place. I'm also ruling out corrupt because I still get the error after replacing the file with one I get online.

Currently running 361.43. Rolled back to 359.06 but to no avail.

Windows did an update last night and I haven't had any errors since.
Cautiously optimistic that whatever was in the update fixed it...

EDIT: Nevermind, it's doing it again. WTF technology

I would not trust windows automatic updates at all. Have you tried installing nvidia drivers from the nvidia website?

Windows 10 is extremely annoying with automatic updates and a lot of other things. I highly suggest using a tool like this to turn off "features" built in to windows 10: https://github.com/10se1ucgo/DisableWinTracking

There are lots of other blogs/forums that document this stuff rather well. I don't own a copy of windows 10, nor have I used it at all, so I cant say exactly what to do with that program.

I haven't used that tool specifically, but simply setting it to 'Privacy' mode is likely sufficient.

Since installing my new mobo, I haven't had an issue. I'm guessing that refreshing the drivers when doing so fixed the problem.

For the future, DDU works beautifully. It's a well written and maintained Guru3d tool that gets rid of all traces of drivers, including annoying Windows registry entries and environment variables that tend to cause issues.

I fixed my issue by manually downloading OpenCl.dll and installing it /system32/.

You can find them on the web, but be careful, make sure it's from Khronos Group and it's not a virus.

FWIW I had the same issue on multiple machines, and reinstalling the video drivers fixed it on all of them. Make sure you reboot :D
